Privacy Policy
Effective January 28, 2026
Data Collection
VolumeHub collects no data whatsoever. Specifically:
- No personal information
- No usage analytics or telemetry
- No crash reports sent to us
- No advertising or tracking
- No third-party SDKs
- No network requests
- No accounts or sign-in
Microphone Permission
VolumeHub requests microphone access because macOS requires it for the Audio Tap API (introduced in macOS 14.4). This API allows VolumeHub to intercept and adjust the volume of individual app audio streams.
Important:
- No audio is ever recorded
- No audio is ever stored to disk
- No audio is ever transmitted anywhere
- The audio data is processed in real-time solely to apply your volume adjustments and render audio level meters
Local Storage
VolumeHub stores your preferences (volume levels, hidden apps, view mode) locally on your Mac using standard macOS user defaults. This data never leaves your device.
Third-Party Services
VolumeHub uses no third-party services, SDKs, or frameworks beyond Apple's standard macOS frameworks. There are no analytics providers, no ad networks, and no external dependencies.
Children's Privacy
VolumeHub does not collect any data from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
If we ever change this policy, the updated version will be posted here with a new effective date. Given that VolumeHub collects no data, we do not anticipate changes.
